Values

  • Our world is already complex enough with tons of rules, long processes, and interrelationships that cost us time, money, and progress.

Therefore, I value simplicity, which leads to progress, liberty, relaxation, focus, and freedom.

  • Our world gets increasingly complex, and it is often no longer possible to understand which factors have which effects. Therefore, too frequently, we get stuck analyzing instead of implementing and trying out solutions. It is better to implement an imperfect solution and improve it iteratively instead of analyzing and planning forever for the perfect solution that you will never find.

  • Pursuing Equality of Outcome leads to discrimination against privileged individuals until they are on the same level as the originally disadvantaged people. Unfortunately, one cannot control whether they are part of the privileged or disadvantaged population and, therefore, cannot prevent discrimination. It also can lead to people complaining and demanding rather than being motivated to improve themselves.

Equality of Opportunity, on the other hand, aims to provide every individual with the same opportunities as every other individual. One way to achieve this ideal is supporting disadvantaged people until they reach the same level as privileged individuals. Instead of unsustainable support such as subventions or financial aid, the support needs to be sustainable, for example, support in gaining knowledge, learning new skills, or becoming physically stronger.
